in Charitable Grants to these Northeast Ohio organizations
- Blessing House - for this children’s crisis care center in Lorain, OH. Open just two years, the program operates a faith-based non-denominational facility that cares for children, ages birth – 12 , when their family is facing a crisis and has no place for them to stay. UUAF funds will increase the scope of this program, thus enhancing their efforts to increase their visibility and support in their community.
- E-Prep – to fund a new parent-run health and nutrition program for Cleveland Entrepreneurship Preparatory School. This public, tuition-free community school is already demonstrating great success as it enters its second year in providing a premier educational experience for students in a technologically advanced, safe, and disciplined environment.
- All Stars - for the Geauga Family First Council to facilitate the expansion of this successful middle school classroom prevention program. All Stars’ goal is to prevent/postpone future alcohol use and other at-risk behaviors, while encouraging youth to dream about their futures and to fulfill their potential.
- Hiram House - to fund the infrastructure and materials needed to develop a composting program, introduce livestock, and expand the garden for the Heifer International Program at Hiram House Camp. The Camp provides an experiential education program for youth and families at an inner-city location with volunteers
and staff from Hiram College.
- Leadership Geauga Youth Program - for Leadership Geauga County to develop a new Youth Leadership Program. It will identify current and future student leaders, and provide them with a year-long experiential
education program designed to inspire and teach leadership skills with a focus on serving their local communities, our nation, and our world.
- LEAP into Literacy - to assist in the implementation of a new program by the Kenston Early Learning Center, which will provide school and community based activities in support of children ages 3 - K and families, with the goal of building literacy through strong home-school connections. This program is intended
to reach out to traditionally under-served areas with an innovative approach.
- Loaves and Fishes Outreach Program - to the Mantua Center Christian Church to develop an Outreach support network to help facilitate area churches in starting their own free meal programs, thus expanding
the available resources for those in need.
- Complementary Medicine Program - to The Littlest Heroes, which promotes spiritual, emotional, and physical healing of children with cancer and their families. The grant will add services to their existing cadre of support through provision of services which complement traditional health care.
- CP4Y Youth Board - to fund the establishment of a Youth board to oversee development of new programs for Geauga County youth, through the Community Partnerships for Youth. CP4Y promotes positive youth development through family, school, and community partnerships.
- START - to After School Prevention Resources for funding expansion of hours and enriched program offerings in the Support To At Risk Teens program. The mission of START is to promote healing through Christian service and advocacy with youth in the city of Cleveland who are hurting, displaced, and forgotten.
The grant will fund the creation of an innovative evening program, which should enable greater participation
and increase the visibility of this program.
- New Life Community - to support a homeless, jobless family through the New Life Community program, which provides holistic support and transitional housing to help families transition to a self-sufficient life.
- The Lullaby Project - to the Music Therapy program at Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital. Funds will be used to produce and distribute a newly-created CD which will educate families about the appropriate
use of music with premature infants. This innovative program will also be offered to other hospitals to expand the reach of this effort to a national level.
- United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation (UMDF) - to fund research, support, and education efforts aimed toward the diagnosis, treatment, and cure of mitochondrial disorders, which affect thousands of children and families and for which there is currently no cure
