Up Up & Away Fund - 2006 Winning Grants
  • Geauga Teen Pregnancy Prevention Program
    The creation of two specific programs that will further the effectiveness of the TPP program, whose primary focus is on reducing the incidence of teenage pregnancy in Geauga County through an integrated series of student and parent abstinence education, skill building, leadership and awareness programs.

  • Mantua Center Loaves & Fishes Free Meal Program
    This grant will be used to provide the necessary infrastructure to allow the volunteers of this self funding free meal program to increase the program that served an average of 1800 meals over the last twelve months to over 3600 meals per year going forward.

  • The Parent Project of Geauga County
    Will help support an innovative program that provides education
    and support to parents and families of high-risk youth, with a focus on positive parenting and prevention
    of problems.

  • Loving Solutions - Friends of CASA for Kids of Geauga Co.
    Will fund the initiation of an education and prevention program for families of children ages 5 - 10 who are at-risk for abuse and neglect.

  • Comunity Partnership for Youth CP4Y
    Establishing a program to promote positive youth development through family, school and community partnerships.

  • New Life Community
    Providing support for a family to receive free shelter for up to four months,
    academic education and GED preparation, job readiness training, job skills training, job retention training, and life skills training such as computer skills, health and safety, nutrition, parenting, money management, budgeting,
    decision making, relationships, etc.
  • Friends of Brick
    The BRICK program provides young at-risk males the opportunity to interact and mentor with positive role models, develop the skills of critical thinking and problem solving while teaching them to respect themselves and others. This grant will be used to purchase uniforms for the young men of BRICK to further build unity and to help attract future participants to the BRICK program.

  • United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation
    To support the initiatives to find a cure to a disease that could unlock many neuromuscular diseases.

  • Symposium for Amish Bishops on Domestic Violence
    A joint venture between the Geauga County Sheriffs office and the Police Prosecutor’s office to provide education to the Old Order Amish
    community in Geauga County regarding the issues of domestic abuse/family violence to help break the cycle for future generations.
